Fire Station in Straubenhardt published in Baumeister Magazine

The January issue of the architecture magazine Baumeister is focused on the topic of circularity. The author Christoph Gunßer discusses our Fire Station in Straubenhardt, which was designed in accordance with the »Cradle to Cradle« principle and therefore is considered a trailblazing building. In an interview, Ingmar Menzer talks about the feasibility of circular construction and the hurdles that may arise.

We wish everyone an inspiring and well-structured new year!

Update on Campus Bern

Our New Campus Bern project is making progress: As part of the tender planning process, we have held several workshops and samplings over the past few months, the results of which have been incorporated into the public tender that has already taken place. The Grand Council of the Canton of Bern has unanimously approved the construction loan of around CHF 352 million for the construction of the new Bern Campus of Bern University of Applied Sciences. The contract for the realisation of the Bern campus was put out to public tender on Monday, 16 October 2023. Bids from total and general contractors will be accepted until March.

Honorable Mention: »Postblockareal Süd« in Berlin

Our proposal for the new federal ministries building on the Postblockareal Süd in Berlin was awarded an honorable mention. Congratulations to the competition team!

On the southern part of the so-called Postblockareal (Post block site) in Berlin, a new ministerial building and a residential building with commercial units are to be built. Our design takes up and further develops the urban design approach used in the plans for the expansion of the Federal Ministry of Finance on the northern part of the Postblockareal, which call for a building configuration organized around courtyards.

Success in the national award »Klimaaktive Kommune 2023«

The municipality of Straubenhardt is one of the winners of the national award »Klimaaktive Kommune 2023« in the category »Resource and Energy Efficiency«: the prize was awarded for our Fire Station in Straubenhardt, planned in accordance with the »Cradle to Cradle« principle, by the German Institute of Urban Affairs with funding from National Climate Initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The jury described the project as a »quantum leap for the community«.
We congratulate on this success and are delighted that our project, which is one of the first Cradle to Cradle buildings in Germany, is being recognized as an important stimulus for future developments.

Ground-Breaking Ceremony for »Museum Oberamteistraße«

The ground-breaking ceremony for the »Museum Oberamteistraße« took place on Monday, 27th November. With this symbolic act, Reutlingen’s Lord Mayor Thomas Keck, Mayor of Construction Angela Weiskopf, representatives of funding bodies, Tobias Wulf and others involved in planning heralded the start of construction of the new building. This ground-breaking ceremony is an important milestone for the preservation of the medieval row of houses. The new building is planned as a wooden half-timbered structure and will be clad in a façade of plain tiles.

Two of our projects in »The Architecture Guide Germany 2024«

Two of our projects are published in this year's edition: the Bavarian State Police in Passau and the C2C Fire Station in Straubenhardt. The Architecture Guide Germany 2024, published by Yorck Förster, Christina Gräwe and Peter Cachola Schmal at DOM publishers, presents more than 100 high-quality, exemplary buildings and ensembles that have recently been realised. The selection of buildings corresponds to the longlist for the DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany 2024.
