Sports- and Festival Hall in Musberg

The previous building from 1948 was renovated and expanded into a sustainable multi-purpose hall of the future. The new hall, which can be used for both sports and festive events, has a stage, equipment rooms as well as technical and changing areas. To the south, it opens up to the landscape with a glazed façade.

The wooden roof construction is reminiscent of the old hall and characterises the spatial impression. The interplay between the dark parquet flooring in the hall and the terrazzo floors in the rest of the building creates high-quality interior spaces. The new hall is connected to the refurbished existing building via the foyer, where the kitchen and catering area are located. Another existing sports hall is located in the basement.

A new canopy made of folded aluminium elements wraps the roof structure. With its green pitched roof, the building blends into its surroundings and takes into account familiar cubatures and room shapes. The entrance situation from the north has been relieved by additional entrances from the south. To the south, a terrace is located in front, offering a panoramic view over the sports grounds and connected to the terrain via a sculptural, sweeping flight of steps. The new building is timeless and part of an ensemble that has grown continuously over 50 years, but its architectural language places it in the present.
